With summer here, Chicagoans will shortly be spending a lot more time outside exploring the city and participating in the loads of outdoor activities to come. Many people will be sharing the sunshine with their pets at some of the pet-friendly parks and beaches located throughout the city, many of them within walking distance of Alta at K Station.
Over the years, Chicago has designated many areas within public parks and beaches as dog friendly. These special spots are where dogs can run and play off-leash. They’re provided with many perks and amenities such as doggie fountains full of fresh water, hoses for watering down exhausted dogs, benches for owners to relax after an intense play session with their pooch and even separate areas for small or shy dogs. So where can your Alta at K Station pets roam around freely in the West Loop? Here’s a few spots we recommend to residents who are new to our pet-friendly community.
Fulton River Park
601 W Kinzie Street, Chicago, IL 60654
Located right next to Alta at K Station, take your dog to the popular Fulton River Park dog run for a burst of exercise in the morning or afternoon. Fresh water and doggie waste bags are provided, but toy dog owners should note that there is no designated small dog area here.
A. Montgomery Ward Park
630 N. Kingsbury Street, Chicago, IL 60654
This gorgeous River North park stretches along the Chicago River and has over three acres of green space in addition to a river walk and spectacular city views. The designated dog area was refurbished last year and now boasts some very thoughtful pooch-friendly features, like special gentle-on-paws coating for the asphalt and a dog’s-height water fountain and bowl.
Mary Bartelme Park
115 S. Sangamon Street, Chicago, IL 60607
This popular dog park is paradise for pooches. The sunken play area has ramps, ledges and steps for pups to run around on, as well as artificial canine grass for more exercise, and over-sized dog bowls that are continually filled with water. Mary Bartelme Park also comes reccommended by our leasing staff here at Alta at K Station.
